Compliance Associates, Inc. (CAI), with the assistance of the sponsoring company and/or local organization, will set up the locally provided exercise room to resemble a remote Emergency Operations Center or Command Post, supporting the functional areas of the National Incident Management Systems/Incident Command System (NIMS/ICS) (Command, Operations, Planning, Logistics and Finance/Administration) and the sixth element of Information/Intelligence, and one section for the Exercise Coordinator (Control) and a section for the sponsoring organization.
When determining the correct room size, CAI recommends a room 50' x 35', with a ceiling height of at least 11'. This height will support a special screen that is erected within the room that is 12-foot wide, by 9-foot high. (The higher the ceiling, the better) Of course, if you have a large LCD projection type screen (larger than a school classroom screen), CAI can utilize your screen. There should be 14 (8’ x 4’) tables and 60 chairs inside the room. CAI recommends that no chairs be set out prior to CAI arrival. After conducting over 600 exercises around the country, CAI has adapted our setup to a multitude of room designs including, but not limited to, working Emergency Operation Centers, fire houses, fire halls, multiple rooms (within reason), school general usage rooms, lunch rooms, and gyms (without wood floors), and many more. CAI has even wired and set up one exercise within a city council room.
